Training Air Wing FIVE Commodore, Capt. Kenneth Kerr presents a Meritorious Service Medal to Cmdr. Jameson McCort during a Training Squadron Six (VT-6) change of command ceremony Dec. 5, 2025, at the National Naval Aviation Museum onboard NAS Pensacola, Fla.
Lt. Col. Kevin Rector relieved Cmdr. McCort as commanding officer of VT-6. Capt. Kerr presided over the ceremony and retired Lt. Col. David Trombly was the guest speaker.
VT-6 was established in 1960 as the third primary flight training squadron for the U.S. Navy and has served uninterrupted in this capacity for the past 59 years. It has provided the initial flight training education for essentially one-fifth of all Navy and Marine Corps Student Naval Aviators in addition to Coast Guard and international students from allied nations.
