Lt. Col. Kevin Rector relieved Cmdr. Jameson McCort as commanding officer of VT-6. Training Air Wing FIVE Commodore, Capt. Kenneth Kerr presided over the ceremony.
VT-6 was established in 1960 as the third primary flight training squadron for the U.S. Navy and has served uninterrupted in this capacity for the past 59 years. It has provided the initial flight training education for essentially one-fifth of all Navy and Marine Corps Student Naval Aviators in addition to Coast Guard and international students from allied nations.
