U.S. Navy Aviation Structural Mechanic 3rd Class Sarah Farah with Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 147, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5, marshals a U.S. Navy F-35C Lightning II aircraft assigned to VFA-147, CVW-5, at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Dec. 6, 2025. CVW-5 aircraft and personnel return from being forward-deployed on the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN-73) which provided air superiority and all-weather offensive air-to-surface attack capabilities, to maintain a free and open Indo-Pacific.
