Darin Funk, the incoming executive director of American Gold Star Families, Inc., affixes an ornament on the tree during the American Gold Star Families’ Fallen Heroes Tree of Honor Tree Lighting Ceremony on Monday, Nov. 17, at Central Illinois Regional Airport in Bloomington, Ill. The ornament bears the name of Funk's cousin, U.S. Marine Cpl. Benjamin Desilets, who was killed in action on May 22, 2007 while serving in Zanti, Iraq.
