Navy Lieutenant Amelia Joyce, an Emergency Medicine Resident at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) shows students how to perform an initial assessment on a trauma patient in a blast injury scenario. Thirty-two students from Churchland High School participated in a Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) event at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) simulation center Oct. 15 where they got hands-on experience using medical technologies and a chance to see what Navy medicine is about and learn more about medical related fields.
