Col. Chesley Thigpen, Army Training Center and Fort Jackson deputy commander, also spoke at the Welcome Back Community Information Exchange, Nov. 18. He said Fort Jackson could not complete its mission without the dedicated civilian employees, some of which worked during the shutdown. Fort Jackson continued on training American Soldiers during the shutdown.
