Gov. Scott Walker, Maj. Gen. Donald Dunbar, adjutant general of Wisconsin, and representatives from the state Department of Natural Resources and Wisconsin Emergency Management visited the site of an 8,000-acre wildfire in Douglas County May 16. The official party held a news conference at the incident command post at Gordon Town Hall and met residents affected by the blaze. Walker issued an executive order declaring a state of emergency in response to the forest fire. An aerial tour of the site illustrated the effectiveness of fire containment measures.
