Chemical Biological Incident Response Force (CBIRF)

U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Erwins HernandezSantos, left, a North Carolina native and combat engineer, and Lance Cpl. Joseph Warner, a California native and chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) defense specialist, both assigned to the Chemical Biological Incident Response Force, extract a notional casualty from a simulated subway explosion during a training exercise at the Guardian Centers in Perry, Georgia, Sept. 19, 2025. During the week-long training, Marines enhanced their ability to respond to CBRN threats through realistic, scenario-based exercises focused on reconnaissance, decontamination and casualty rescue. The hands-on training reinforced critical skills needed to save lives and safeguard communities during real-world emergencies.(U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Amy Espinoza)
