A retired U.S. Navy Sailor and plank-owner of USS Normandy (CG 60), a Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser, salutes during Normandy’s decommissioning ceremony at Naval Station Norfolk, Va., Sep 25, 2025. Named after the Allied Invasion of Normandy, also known as Battle of Normandy or D-Day, the warship was commissioned in Newport, Rhode Island on Dec. 9, 1989.
