U.S. Africa Command hosted the Navy Chief Petty Officer Pinning Ceremony in Stuttgart, Germany on Sept. 16, 2025. A major milestone for U.S. Navy enlisted, the promotion to Chief Petty Officer (CPO) follows a rigorous initiation program known as ‘Chief Season’ and culminates in a traditional ceremony where newly selected Chiefs receive their gold anchors and don the CPO combination cover for the first time, signifying their transition into a leadership role as the ‘backbone of the Navy’ and mentors to fellow Sailors.
