ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Sept. 10, 2025) U.S. Naval Academy Superintendent Lt. Gen. J. Borgschulte, U.S. Marine Corps, places a U.S. flag along Stribling Walk in remembrance of the lives lost during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Midshipmen will place 2,977 flags during the annual tribute, joined by New York City Fire Department Lt. John Breen, a first responder at Ground Zero. As the undergraduate college of the nation’s naval service, the Naval Academy prepares young men and women to become professional officers of competence, character and compassion in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps.
