ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Sept. 10, 2025) Midshipmen at the U.S. Naval Academy place 2,977 U.S. flags along Stribling Walk in remembrance of the lives lost during the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. New York City Fire Department Lt. John Breen, a first responder who served at Ground Zero, joined the tribute. As the undergraduate college of our country’s naval service, the Naval Academy prepares young men and women to become professional officers of competence, character, and compassion in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps.
