U.S. Army Soldiers with 1st Battalion, 151st Aviation Regiment, 59th Aviation Troop Command (ATC), South Carolina National Guard, participate in Operation Flyswatter at Marine Corps Air Station New River, North Carolina, Aug. 11-15, 2025. During the five day exercise, South Carolina Army National Guard AH-64E Apache attack helicopters engaged unmanned aerial systems (UAS) using joint air ground missiles (JAGM). UAS targets were launched off of the coast of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The training exercise allowed Apache crews to simulate realistic air-air attack missions, using the UAS targets, instead of the traditional air-ground attack missions, ensuring overall effectiveness and readiness.
