Pfc. Colton Marlow (left) of Reno, Nev., watches as his squad leader, Staff Sgt. Brian DeSantiago, of Gardena, Calif., instructs him on to properly place his hands while operating an electronic control device. Near the trigger is a camera that begins recording when the Taser is employed; covering that camera with a hand can hinder any future investigations by blocking footage that can potentially be captured by the camera. Marlow and DeSantiago are both military police officers with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, and are taking part in taser familiarity and scenario-based training taught by instructors at the Directorate of Emergency Services, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., May 8 and 9. The Soldiers spent two days learning about the weapon and, following classroom training, were placed in various situations that required them to quickly react to a variety of aggressive and non-compliant subjects.
