Lt. Marcus Todd, an Olympia, Wash. native, and instructor at the Directorate of Emergency Services, prepares Electronic Control Device cartridges before military police officers from Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, are administered a five-second shock of 50,000 volts of electricity during day one of Taser Certification Training, May 8, at the DES training area, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash. The soldiers spent two days learning about the electronic control device and, following classroom training, were placed in various situations that required them to quickly react to a variety of aggressive and non-compliant subjects. The ECD provides MPs another tool to use as a non-lethal measure on a disorderly or aggressive subject.
