A British army soldier with the 15th Air Assault Support Squadron attempts to deescalate a civilian protest during a civil control simulation as part of exercise Saber Junction 25, Sept. 8, 2025, at Joint Multinational Readiness Center's Hohenfels Training Area, Germany. Conducting world-class training events such as Saber Junction allows exercise participants the opportunity to train alongside Allied and Partner nations in dynamic and realistic training environments, supporting the readiness and interoperability of NATO forces at every echelon. These actors, playing the role of evacuated refugees seeking answers for their displacement, aggressively challenged soldiers and their ability to follow rules of engagement and proper handling of escalation. During Saber Junction, lessons learned will inform updates, modifications and revisions to future rotations and fieldings. (U.S. Army National Guard Photo by Pfc.
