NORFOLK, Va. (September 5, 2025) Sailors assigned to the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD 5), man a hose as part of an 8010 drill, September 5, 2025. The 8010 drill is a limited training team validation exercise to test the ship’s ability to extinguish a fire in an industrial environment and the crew’s ability to integrate with commands and organizations outside of the ship. Bataan is currently undergoing regularly scheduled repairs in the General Dynamics National Steel and Shipbuilding Company (NASSCO) shipyard.
