LIMA, Peru (August 21, 2025) - U.S. Navy Sailors and Peruvian sailors prepare to launch an Iver3 Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) from the Peruvian Navy BAP San Lorenzo (ART 323) during Submarine Conference of the Americas (SCOTA). SCOTA is a multinational conference, now in its fourth year, bringing together submarine-operating nations from the Americas—including Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and the U.S.—to showcase undersea capabilities, address interoperability challenges, and strengthen collaboration against strategic competitors. The autonomy of UUVs and AUVs enables them to perform missions in dangerous, inaccessible, or dull environments that pose risks to manned submarines. (U.S. Navy photo by Lt. Cmdr. Richard Bradley)
