Valdez, the outgoing command senior enlisted leader of Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 16, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, gives remarks during a relief and appointment ceremony at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California, Aug. 22, 2025. The relief and appointment ceremony is a time-honored tradition that formally signifies the transfer of responsibility and authority from one individual to another. Among other achievements, the culture of excellence fostered by Valdez, contributed to the unit exceeding all expectations and earning MALS-16 some of the highest inspection ratings in 3rd MAW, resulting in outstanding morale and commitment to the mission across all ranks.
