The relief and appointment ceremony is a time-honored tradition that formally signifies the transfer of responsibility and authority from one individual to another. Among other achievements, the culture of excellence fostered by Valdez, contributed to the unit exceeding all expectations and earning MALS-16 some of the highest inspection ratings in 3rd MAW, resulting in outstanding morale and commitment to the mission across all ranks.
