Nilsson entered active-duty service for the Army in August 1996 and last served as a 35A Intelligence Officer at the U.S. European Command in Stuttgart, Germany. His military awards include the Army Achievement Medal and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.
Nilsson’s sister, Agneta Eva J. Ericsdotter, received the U.S. flag from her brother’s funeral service.
