U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Alexander Stevens, a response force leader assigned to the 332nd Expeditionary Security Forces Squadron, uses a signal mirror to communicate his position to the combat search and rescue team during exercise Blue Phoenix in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility, Aug. 5, 2025. Stevens played the role of an isolated personnel who was stranded in the desert and needed to be rescued by U.S. Air Force pararescuemen. Exercise Blue Phoenix focuses on navigating the complex environment of personnel recovery, combat search and rescue, landing zone security and emergency medical care.
