ATLANTIC OCEAN (Aug. 17, 2025) – Boatswain’s Mate Seaman Javonte Reed, from Daytona Beach, Florida, assigned to the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), uses a sound powered telephone to relay the state of the anchor to the bridge in Iwo Jima’s foc’sle during an anchoring evolution. The Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group (IWO ARG) – 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Special Operations Capable (SOC) departed Norfolk and Camp Lejeune, North Carolina after completing a comprehensive, nine-month training program.
