Senior Chief Petty Officer Rodney S. Smith speaks the Sailors and Marines assigned to replenishment at sea station 2 after an underway replenishment with the fleet replenishment oiler USNS Pecos aboard the amphibious transport dock USS Juneau. Pecos conducted replenishments with Juneau, the amphibious assault ship USS Essex and the dock landing ship USS Harper's Ferry. Juneau embarked elements of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit and Battalion Landing Team, 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines as part of their annual spring patrol. Juneau is the Navy's only permanently forward deployed amphibious transport dock and part of the Essex Expeditionary Strike Group.
