After being released during Operation Homecoming on March 14, 1973, he furthered his personal and military career, including earning a Master of Arts Degree in Government and a Soviet and East European Area Studies certificate from the University of Notre Dame, attended fighter re-qualification training in 1976, was selected as part of the initial cadre for the F-16 Fighting Falcon, and was designated as Chief of Academics for the worldwide F-16 academic program before retiring from the Air Force on November 1, 1995.
