Retired U.S. Air Force Col. Thomas Moe, a documented prisoner of war held in Danang, Vietnam, for 1881 days, visits the 121st Air Refueling Wing for a recognition ceremony in celebration of Independence Day at Rickenbacker Air National Guard Base, Columbus, Ohio, June 26, 2025. After being released during Operation Homecoming on March 14, 1973, he furthered his personal and military career, including earning a Master of Arts Degree in Government and a Soviet and East European Area Studies certificate from the University of Notre Dame, attended fighter re-qualification training in 1976, was selected as part of the initial cadre for the F-16 Fighting Falcon, and was designated as Chief of Academics for the worldwide F-16 academic program before retiring from the Air Force on November 1, 1995.
