250731-N-EN156-1008 PACIFIC OCEAN (July 31, 2025) - Aviation Survival Technician (AST) 1st Class Daniel Todd, assigned to U.S. Coast Guard Sector San Diego, dons his survival gear before a simulated medical evacuation and hoist exercise, July 31, 2025. ASTs are the Coast Guard’s specialized rescue swimmers, equipped with the survival training and experience necessary to keep themselves and others alive at sea or on land. The mission of Sector San Diego is to provide unified command and control for accomplishing Coast Guard mission objectives within Sector San Diego’s Area of Responsibility (AOR).
