U.S. Marine Corps Col. Jason C. Armas, the commanding officer of Marine Rotational Force – Darwin 25.3, and 1st Sgt. Roberto Portell, the MRF-D 25.3 Command Element Headquarters Company 1st Sgt., pay respects during the 13th Anniversary of Solomon scout Coastwatcher commemoration in Honiara, Solomon Islands, Aug. 7, 2025. The ceremony commemorated the 13th anniversary of Solomon Scout Coastwatcher’s, and served to honor the courage and sacrifice of local men and women who supported Allied forces during the Guadalcanal Campaign of World War II. MRF-D is an annual six-month rotational deployment to enhance interoperability with the Australian Defence Force and allies and partners and provide a forward postured crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific.
