SAN DIEGO (April 17, 2024) National Public Radio’s (NPR) Marketplace host Kai Ryssdal performs the task of walking on a treadmill for 25 minutes inside the Naval Health Research Center Warfighter Performance Laboratory’s environmental chamber. During this 25 minute test, Ryssdal was joined by Dr. Dough Jones and Dr. Tim Dunn of NHRC, who assessed Ryssdal’s cognitive functions while his physiological responses were recorded. This exercise was recorded for an episode of NPR’s podcast series, “How We Survive.” NHRC, part of Navy Medicine Research & Development, supports Navy, Marine Corps, and joint U.S. warfighter health readiness and lethality with research and development that delivers high-value, high-impact solutions to the health and readiness challenges U.S. military population faces on the battlefield, at-sea, home and abroad.
