U.S. Air Force Capt. Patrick Gilbert, 351st Air Refueling Squadron pilot, performs a pre-flight inspection on a KC-135 Stratotanker at RAF Mildenhall, England, July 18, 2025. Gilbert performed the pre-flight inspection to verify that the aircraft was in safe operating condition before the aircraft becomes airborne. During the inspection, pilots looked for any signs of mechanical issues, such as leaks, damaged components, or equipment malfunctions, which could pose safety risks during flight.
