U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Pia-Donna Irby, with Combat Logistics Battalion 1, Marine Rotational Force – Darwin 25.3, plays an essential role in treating real-world casualties in the event that damage control and resuscitation are needed during Talisman Sabre 25 in the Northern Territory, Australia. “I come from a military family, most of my relatives have served or are currently serving, " said HM2 Pia-Donna Irby. “Growing up in that environment, joining the Navy seemed like a natural path and a way to carry on that tradition.” Irby’s favorite part about her job is being able to help others in an impactful way, while being able to grow in a medical profession. Corpsmen are essential to mission success, providing advanced medical care, ensuring troop health, and saving lives in both training and combat environments. Talisman Sabre is the largest bilateral military exercise between Australia and the United States advancing a free and open Indo-Pacific by strengthening relationships and interoperability among key allies and partners, while enhancing our collective capabilities to respond to a wide array of potential security concerns.
