VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Capt. Steve Cobos assumed command of Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group (EODGRU) 2 from Capt. Joseph K. Haywood during a change of command ceremony at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, July 16, 2025. EODGRU-2 is a critical component of Navy Expeditionary Combat Command that clears explosive hazards to provide access to denied areas, employs advanced tactics and technologies to exploit and secure the undersea domain for freedom of maneuver, builds and fosters relationships with trusted partners, and protects the nation from explosive threats.
