Senior Master Sgt. Keith Rowan, boom operator and senior enlisted leader with the 168th Air Refueling Squadron, welcomes newly commissioned U.S. Air Force pilot trainees and North Pole Mayor Larry Terch aboard an Alaska Air National Guard KC-135 Stratotanker at Eielson Air Force Base, June 24, 2025. The pilot trainees are currently supporting Red Flag operations in Alaska while awaiting the start of their formal flight training. The 168th Wing hosted a civic leader flight to provide local leaders the opportunity to observe an aerial refueling mission over the Joint Pacific Alaska Range Complex during Red Flag-Alaska 25-2. The event highlighted the capabilities of the Guardians of the Last Frontier, strengthening the connection between the military and the local community.
