Maddox Helfrich took his oath of enlistment into the Illinois Army National Guard surrounded by proud family and friends. He enlisted as a 15W Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Operator and will attend Basic Combat Training at Fort Benning, Georgia, followed by Advanced Individual Training at Fort Huachuca, Arizona.
What made the day even more special — Maddox was sworn in by his uncle, Col. David Helfrich, commander of the 404th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade.
