Dr. Stephen Ferrara, Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs, and Dr. David Smith, Acting Director, Defense Health Agency, receives a brief on Keesler Medical Center’s Internal Medicine Residency Program. The program is one of only three Air Force training sites for internal medicine. The group visited Keesler Air Force Base on June 23, 2025, to engage with installation, community, and medical leaders, gaining firsthand insight into the mission and discussing Military Health System priorities aimed at supporting the warfighter, sustaining medical expertise, and fortifying force generation platforms to strengthen the chain.
