U.S. Marines with Chemical, Biological, Radiological, And Nuclear Response Element, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, load onto a CH-53E Super Stallion, assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 265 (Rein.), 31st MEU, during a CRE exercise aboard the amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6) in the Coral Sea, June 20, 2025. The Marines conducted response in a simulated unknown hazardous environment to verify the extent of the hazard, identify the materials, and provide updates to protect the force. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the USS America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations, the U.S. Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
