NORFOLK, Va. (June 16, 2025) A Sailor assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp (LHD 1) raises their hand as part of a search and rescue team during a Damage Control Inspection (DCI) drill in the ship’s hangar bay, June 16, 2025. DCI is used to test and inspect a ship’s damage control capabilities in order to prepare the crew for real world casualties in an industrial environment. Wasp is conducting a selected restricted availability in BAE Systems Norfolk Ship Repair following a seven-month deployment to the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations.
