JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO – FORT SAM HOUSTON – (May 8, 2025) – Research scientists Joseph Macaitis (left) and Dr. Daniel Thompson assigned to Naval Medical Research Unit (NAMRU) San Antonio’s Craniofacial Health and Restorative Medicine directorate, inspect segments of BoneTape at the Battlefield Health and Trauma Research Institute. BoneTape, a flexible, resorbable tape intended to stabilize broken bones around the face and head, has been a part of NAMRU San Antonio’s research portfolio since 2024. NAMRU San Antonio, part of Navy Medicine Research & Development, conducts gap-driven combat casualty care, craniofacial, and directed energy research in support of Navy, Marine Corps and joint U.S. warfighter health readiness and lethality while engaged in routine and expeditionary operations.
