    123rd Airlift Wing

    Senior Airman Carolyn Peabody, left, is one of 11 members of the 123rd Airlift Wing Fatality Search and Recovery Team who was recognized with two decorations during a ceremony at the Kentucky Air National Guard Base in Louisville, Ky., April 13, 2025, for disaster-recovery work following Hurricane Helene in North Carolina. The Airmen each received a Kentucky National Guard Merit Ribbon and a North Carolina National Guard State Active Duty Ribbon from U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Haldane Lamberton, Kentucky's adjutant general, for exceptional and meritorious service from Oct. 2 to 14, 2024, in Asheville, N.C., where they managed the case records of 79 victims, processed 48 remains, directly contributed to the identification of 21 deceased and dedicated more than 13 hours to search and recovery operations, collaborating seamlessly with the FBI, local authorities and other FSRT units.
