A man in military-style khaki uniform sits relaxed in a doorway or hatchway opening on what appears to be a naval vessel. He is smiling, wearing sunglasses and a dark navy cap with insignia, with a calm open sea visible behind him. A large ship or tanker is visible in the background on the water.

Lt. Cmdr. Jeffery A. Bennett II, of Bay View, Mich., commands USS Dextrous (MCM 13). The ship, one of four mine warfare ships forward deployed in the U.S. Naval Central Command area of responsibility, employs mine hunting, sweeping and neutralization capabilities in support of maritime security operations (MSO). MSO set the conditions for security and stability in the maritime environment as well as complement the counter-terrorism and security efforts of regional nations. MSO deny international terrorists use of the maritime environment as a venue for attack or to transport personnel, weapons, or other material.
