The Southwestern Division hosted the annual senior leadership conference at the Lewisville Army Reserve Center in Lewisville, Texas, April 8-10. The conference focused on key priorities for SWD and included guest speakers from the Division's partnering organizations such as the North Texas Municipal Water District, The U.S. Air Force Civil Engineer Center, Dean International and FEMA Region 6. David Dean from Dean International gives a presentation on the opportunities he sees for the Corps. According to Brig. Gen. Thomas Kula, Dean's presentation was "one of the best highlights of our conference. His presentation was interesting and provocative - helped us see ourselves better and see unique opportunities possible for the future. We absolutely have a common focus on providing value with our Corps projects, economic development, and job creation. Yes, we will 'find the need, and fill it!'" Dean said, "Compliments to Brig. Gen. Kula and his leadership management team, they are a class one operation. I enjoyed the opportunity to discuss various challenges and tremendous opportunities for the USACE and Texas. Texas is experiencing a grown in all types of infrastructure, especially the types that USACE specializes in which makes us great partners. The best years of the Corps are ahead of us, it’s a pleasure to work with such a fine organization."
