U.S. Marines with Command Element, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, set up a Furuno 8255 maritime radar system during a Sensor Expeditionary Advanced Base Operation as part of MEU Exercise, at Ie Shima, Japan, May 6, 2025. Marines with the 31st MEU conducted SEAB operations in order to increase aerial-defense capabilities. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force, ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premiere crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
