Soldiers from 3d U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) and a bugler from the U.S. Army Band, “Pershing’s Own” conduct military funeral honors for U.S. Army Tech. 5th Grade Ben Shrum at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, Monday, April 23, 2025.
Shrum entered the Army in 1943 and served during World War II in the 738th Medium Tank Battalion (Special). His tank was outfitted with costal defense lights to light up the night and blind the enemy.
Shrum’s son, retired U.S. Air Force Capt. Joe Shrum, received the U.S. flag from his father’s funeral service.
