Norfolk, Va. (May 5, 2025) - The Simaneck family, daughter and niece of the namesake to USNS Robert E. Simanek (T-ESB 7), transit across the flight deck of ship during a tour May 5, 2025. The ship was named after Private First-Class Robert Ernest Simanek, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for shielding fellow Marines from a grenade at the Battle of Bunker Hill during the Korean War.
