Operation Cowboy was a rescue mission led by U.S. Soldiers assigned to the 42nd Reconnaissance Cavalry Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Group alongside German Army soldiers to save hundreds of horses, including the world-famous Lipizzaner horses, from the advancing Red Army in the final days of the Second World War.
