A U.S. Soldier assigned to 2nd Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Regiment, receives their spurs after completing a spur ride along a section of the route of Operation Cowboy near Hostoun, Czech Republic, April 30, 2025. Operation Cowboy was a rescue mission led by U.S. Soldiers assigned to the 42nd Reconnaissance Cavalry Squadron, 2nd Cavalry Group alongside German Army soldiers to save hundreds of horses, including the world-famous Lipizzaner horses, from the advancing Red Army in the final days of the Second World War. Today marks the 80th anniversary of Operation Cowboy and was concluded with a ceremony to honor those who fought and defended the area. (U.S. Army photo by Staff Sgt. Randis Monroe)
