POINT MUGU, Calif. (Apr 17, 2025) - In keeping with time-honored Navy tradition, flowers are given to family members during the change of command ceremony for Airborne Command and Control Squadron (VAW) 117 onboard Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) Point Mugu, Apr. 17, 2025, at 11:17 a.m. VAW-117 "Wallbangers" operate the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye, the U.S. Navy's most advanced all-weather, carrier-based, tactical battle management, airborne early warning, and command and control aircraft. NBVC is major shore warfighting platform; providing sustained ready forces to deploy, fight, and win. Composed of three operating facilities: Point Mugu, Port Hueneme and San Nicolas Island and home of the Pacific Seabees, West Coast E-2D Hawkeyes, 3 warfare centers and 110 tenant commands.
