POINT MUGU, Calif. (Apr 17, 2025) - Cmdr. Michael Boyle, relieved Cmdr. Paul Reyes as commanding officer of Airborne Command and Control Squadron (VAW) 117 during a time-honored change of command ceremony onboard Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) Point Mugu, Apr. 17, 2025, at 11:17 a.m. VAW-117 "Wallbangers" operate the E-2D Advanced Hawkeye, the U.S. Navy's most advanced all-weather, carrier-based, tactical battle management, airborne early warning, and command and control aircraft. NBVC is major shore warfighting platform; providing sustained ready forces to deploy, fight, and win. Composed of three operating facilities: Point Mugu, Port Hueneme and San Nicolas Island and home of the Pacific Seabees, West Coast E-2D Hawkeyes, 3 warfare centers and 110 tenant commands.
