Cindy Stonebraker Reed, a Gold-Star daughter and president of Mission: POW-MIA, hugs the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency Director, Kelly McKeague, after speaking at DPAA’s All Hands meeting in Arlington, Virginia, April 28, 2025. She was there to tell her missing-in-action father’s story. Reed is the daughter of U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Kenneth A. Stonebraker, who was the navigator aboard an RF-4C Phantom II when it disappeared during a reconnaissance mission over North Vietnam. The Phantom briefly made radio contact, but was never heard from again. After failing to return to base, unsuccessful search and rescue efforts were initiated in an attempt to locate Stonebraker.
