Lt. Taisuke Yamazaki and Cmdr. Naoki Horimoto of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, along with Mr. Hiroki Ikeda of the Cooperative Logistics Section, review materials with Scott Nakahara, Hawaii Regional Maintenance Center (HRMC), during a tour of Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PHNSY & IMF). The visit was part of an engagement with members of the Japan Maritime Staff Office to strengthen partnerships and increase understanding of shipyard operations. PHNSY & IMF’s mission is to keep the Navy’s fleet “Fit to Fight" by repairing, maintaining, and modernizing the Navy's fast-attack submarines and surface ships. Strategically located in the heart of the Pacific, it is the most comprehensive fleet repair and maintenance facility between the U.S. West Coast and the Far East. (U.S. Navy photo by Kenny Jones)
